Success Stories: Server Deployments

Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute

Established in 1989, Tandanya enjoys a unique position as Australia’s first and oldest Indigenous owned and managed multi-arts centre. They are a national institute presenting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and cultures from throughout Australia. Their name comes from the language of the traditional inhabitants of the Adelaide Plains, the Kaurna people (pronounced Garna) and means "place of the Red Kangaroo".

Computer Image won the tender to implement a new network and server infrastructure and raise the standard in the personal computer fleet.  Working to a strict budget, the complete network cabling infrastructure was replaced, and a new Compaq Server proudly hosts Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 to provide staff with the latest technologies in collaborating information.

The fleet of PC’s were upgraded and rebuilt to a standard operating environment which was designed and implemented by Computer Image engineers.  The complete IT System revamp was completed on time and within budget providing Tandanya a stable IT future.

Macweld Industries

Formed in 1962, Macweld Industries Pty Ltd is a Adelaide based fabrication and manufacturing Company, working with mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel. The Company now provides individually designed plant, equipment, components and maintenance contracts for a wide range of national and international customers.

With Microsoft's new pricing packages for Small Business Server, Macweld took the opportunity to upgrade their internal systems to include Microsoft Exchange Server.  A new server was supplied and implemented to provide a stable hardware platform for all users with minimal disruption to the business.

Transfer of data and other services was completed without major disruption or reconfiguration of end user workstations.  File security and restructuring ensured Macweld's electronic information is protected and organised.

Eden Living Homes

Eden Interiors are part of Eden Living building and design group - Eden Homes, Galaxy Homes, Prelude Homes and Eden Architectural. Eden Interiors supply a full range of services, from design concepts, programming and planning, detailed drawings for interior detailing and space planning, colour consultation, hard and soft furnishings and accessories.

Computer Image supplied and implemented a new dual Zeon server with Microsoft's Small Business Server 2003, utilising Microsoft Exchange for more efficient collaboration of electronic information.

Although a Windows server and domain existed, the server deployment plan ensured staff disruption was minimal.  Data was transferred from one server to another without major reconfigurations of workstations.

Home Ownership Company

In today's competitive home loan market, home owners are increasingly becoming aware of the need to take control of their financial situation, reduce their debts and develop long term wealth strategies. Whilst most financial institutions are focused solely on finding the best rate available, Home Ownership Company™ believe that an effective home loan strategy must also take into consideration the speed at which the loan is repaid.

Computer Image supplied and deployed a new server to allow Home Ownership to upgrade to newer versions of Small Business Server and hence take advantage of newer technologies and programming techniques.

A second sever was later introduced to provide their Kent Town office access to the centralised data source from a remote location. This Windows 2000 Terminal Server provides staff from other sites or dialup locations, the ability to access the most up to date company data.

Dr Terence J Broom

In support of his successful practice, Dr Broom needed access to his critical data and medical applications both while in the office, at home and while supporting his operations in the south-east.  Microsoft Small Business Server and Microsoft Terminal Services for Windows were chosen to support his requirements.

Computer Image deployed these servers in combination with a SmoothWall Corporate Server 3.0 to allow remote access to the network, servers and therefore data and applications in a secure fashion.

The careful configuration of these line-of-business servers has meant that minimal downtime occurred when a critical hard drive failure occurred.
